Finally a management software program that has been designed by someone who understands the service business and who understands customer service!
At Chem-Dry Ottawa we recently made the decision to replace our old Macintosh-based software program with something that would move us from a one-computer workstation database and our well-traveled paper
schedule. We needed a state-of-the-art software package that was designed to work on our new computer network, one that would allow us to have multiple users on the database at one time, and one
that would retire our paper schedule in favour of an electronic scheduling system for our growing fleet of service vans.
The decision to make a change in our software package, although a bit scary at first, was relatively easy...the choice of software package was not! I read about and researched all of the programs
out there. I used Cleanfax, the internet, and solicited the opinions of other carpet cleaners. There were lots of choices, all promising the biggest and the best. It was difficult to
decide which one was in fact the best. In the end, I made the decision to purchase the Proclean Software package from Vertical Software, mostly because they offered a monthly leasing plan. I
thought why pay for something now that I can pay for later…big mistake!
What I got was a software program that constantly crashed, a database conversion that was promised but never delivered, the constant billing to my credit card despite returning the software to the
company, and a three-month wait to talk to the owner when seeking a refund, despite my numerous calls and emails requesting a resolution to my problems. You guessed it…I didn’t get all of my
money back. But I did get a second chance at choosing a software that will truly meet our long-term needs and that will be there to support us when we need it.
I then talked to Steve Sloan at Camelot. What a difference! To say that I was a skeptical consumer at first would be an understatement…just ask Steve. I asked a million questions,
making sure that I got answers to my questions back in writing. Before I committed to buying the Camelot package, I ordered the full working trial version. I tested every single function I
could find, so I would be absolutely convinced that this was in fact the system we needed and that we could use to grow our business. Camelot passed my tests with flying colours…on top of that,
the staff at Vanguard Computer Systems also passed with flying colours. They answered all of my questions promptly and professionally. They provided me with detailed pricing options, and when
I send my database down to be converted, it was converted in days, they emailed the converted database back to me, and then they followed that up with a disk version of my converted database. Wow!
We are extremely happy with our purchase. We are still learning the package, but already we have seen a phenomenal increase in our office productivity and our van utilization. All thanks to
Camelot software. Do yourself a favour, if you are thinking about purchasing a new software package to run your business or are thinking about upgrading your current software package…make your
