Having problems merging with MS Word

In order to perform the MS Word Mail Merge, you must have MS Word 97 or higher installed properly on your system.

Cannot find Word
If you get an error message when you attempt to perform a mail merge that says something like "Cannot find application.  MS Word 97 or higher must be installed...", then if you are also running the Norton Antivirus program (or any other antivirus program that may interfere with Office plug-ins), then there is probably a setting in that program that you need to modify.

Follow these instructions to fix this problem for Norton Antivirus (probably similar in other antivirus programs):
1. Start Norton Antivirus.
2. Click on ' Option' button.
3. Select Miscellaneous tab (on the left side).
4. Uncheck ' Enable Office plugin' check box.
5. Click Ok.

IMPORTANT UPDATE!  As of December 8, 2009, there is a new Microsoft automatic update that will cause problems with your MS Word mail merging in Camelot.  Here is a link to the information about the update, and there is a section there on how to make some registry changes that will solve the problem: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973904

Other than that, be sure Word is installed properly on your machine. Be sure that when you install MS Word, you choose to customize the
installation (don't choose just the Typical installation, but instead choose Custom installation for Word) and be sure that all components are getting installed - especially all of the Conversion Filter components.  There may be an option to install these to either run from your hard drive or from the CD, and you want to be sure to choose to install them to run from your hard drive.
