Every field in a form layout design can be set to print or not print. Also, every field can be set to "Print blank conditionally".
In the form layout designer, when you double-click on a field's box, it opens the Field Properties screen. On the Behavior tab of this screen, you will see a checkbox labeled "Print this field". When this is checked, the field may print. When this is not checked, the field will only show on screen and will not print.
In addition, there is another checkbox there labeled "Print Blank Conditionally". When this box is unchecked, the field is like any other field, and it will print if you have the "Print this field" box checked, and it won't print if you don't have that checked. If you check the "Print Blank Conditionally" box, then when you print normally, the field will still print normally.
But when you are printing an order or invoice, there is an additional print option called "Print with conditionals blank" (Ctrl+Alt+P instead of just Ctrl+P, or you can choose "Print w/ conditionals blank" from the Order pull-down menu when you have an order open) and when this is chosen, any fields that had that "Print blank conditionally" option checked will not print, but be left blank.
This is usually used for price or quantity fields, where you don't want the pricing for individual line items to print, but you still want the description to print.
