CAMELOT 3.0 NOTE: If you are using Camelot 3.0, then if you are upgrading from Camelot 2.6.5, to bring that data into the new 3.0 database, go to Tools > Import > Upgrade from Camelot 2.6.5, and it will walk you through the process. If you are a new user of Camelot 3.0, and you need to import from one of the programs listed below (other than QuickBooks, which that import utility is still included in 3.0), then you will need to first get a copy of Camelot 2.6.5 and install that, and run the import utility you need following the instructions below, and then import that 2.6.5 database into 3.0.
The program comes with a number of utilities for automatically importing your data from other software programs. Currently, import utilities exist for the following industry programs:
QuickBooks (Customer list only)
ACT! (Customer list only)
BSS (Business Service Solutions)
PTS (ProfitMaster or CarpetMaster)
Marathon Data Systems
Chem-Dat
Mistral / MaxWare
ProClean
The Final Answer
SPCS (Pest Control database program)
Importing your Customer List from QuickBooks
You must first create an IIF file containing your customer list from QuickBooks, then that is the file you will choose to import the list into Camelot. Follow these steps to do this and import that list into Camelot:
1. Open QuickBooks
2. From the File pull-down menu, choose Export (or in QB 2000 or higher it will be File > Utilities > Export)
3. Check only the Customer List box and click OK
4. In the Save In drop-down box at the top of the next screen, choose your C: drive
5. In the File Name box put "CUSTLIST.IIF" and click OK, or Save.
6. Now you will have successfully created the IIF file that contains your QuickBooks customer list.
7. Now to import that file into Camelot, from the Tools pull-down menu in Camelot, choose Upgrade From > QuickBooks.
8. Click Next, and in the Import From box, click the file folder button to browse and choose the CUSTLIST.IIF file you just created (in Look In box, choose C: drive, and you should see the CUSTLIST.IIF file listed in the window, and double-click on it)
9. Now back in the Import From box, you will see the path to the file you just chose.
10. Now click the Next button, then click the Finish button and your customer list will be imported.
Importing data from some other program
If you have a program that we do not yet have an import utility for, then you have two options on getting your data into Camelot:
1. You can send your data files to us and we will give you a quote for converting the data into Camelot. This quote will just depend on the amount of time it will take to get the data and usually ranges from $150 to $400. The turn-around time will depend on how many data conversions are ahead of you, but is usually within 1 week. Results cannot be guaranteed, but we can get at least the customer list (names, addresses, and phone numbers) from just about anything.
2. If you just want to import the customer names, addresses, and phone numbers, then you can probably do that yourself if you can export the data from whatever the other program is into a tab or comma delimited text file. Most programs have the capability of exporting the customer list in some fashion. Then you can use MS Excel or another spreadsheet program to format the data in the format needed to import them into Camelot. The file should be a tab-delimited text file with at least the following fields: FNAME, LNAME, COMPANY, ADDRESS, CITY, STATE, ZIP, PHONE. There are other fields that could be there, but these are the main ones. Once you have this file, from the Tools pull-down menu in Camelot, choose Upgrade From > Custom Text (client records only). Then browse to choose the file to import, and from the field choices on the bottom right, double-click so that the fields listed in the window on the left match the fields you will be importing into in the window on the upper right and click Import. For the above example it would be [FNAME] [LNAME] [COMPANYNAME] [MAILINGADDRESS] [MAILINGCITY] [MAILINGSTATE] [MAILINGZIP] [HOMEPHONE].
Importing your data from CleanWorks 1.x
If you happen to be running our previous software - CleanWorks, then to import your data into Camelot, follow these steps:
1. From the Tools pull-down menu choose Upgrade From > CleanWorks 1.x
2. In the Database box, choose your CleanWorks database file. It should be named either Data130.mdb or Data113.mdb and will be in the folder where you installed CleanWorks.
3. In the System DB box, choose the CW.MDW file, again in the folder where you installed CleanWorks.
4. If you ever changed the password for the Manager user, then you will need to enter the appropriate user name and password in the boxes for that there.
5. Then just click Import and all your data will be brought into Camelot. If there are any error messages or problems with importing your CleanWorks data, then you will need to send that database file to us on a Zip Disk or CD-R and we can see what the problem is and send you back a converted database. Click here to see where to send the information.
Importing your Customer List from ACT!
From the Tools pull-down menu, choose Upgrade From > ACT, and then browse to choose your ACT CONTACT.DBF file (usually it is in C:Program FilesSymantecACT), and click Import.
Importing your Data from the other Programs Listed
For all of the other programs, you will import your data in a similar fashion. First, be sure you have closed out of that program on all your computers. Then, from the Tools pull-down menu in Camelot, choose Upgrade From, and then the program your are upgrading from. It will ask you for the folder where the program is installed or for the database file for the progam, and so you need to be sure it has the right folder or file there (e.g. for BSS it is usually "C:BSS", for Marathon it is usually "C:CCS", for PTS - ProfitMaster it is usually "C:Master", etc.). Once you have the right folder there, simply click Import and the utility will do the rest.
