Exactly how to restore from a backup will depend on how you created your backup. See the topic about Creating a Backup for more information on that.
To restore from a backup you previously made onto a USB Flash drive, you will not use any of our utilities. Instead follow these steps:
1. Insert the USB Flash drive into your computer's USB slot (usually will be one on the front of the computer)
2. Close out of the Camelot program if you have it open
3. From your windows Start menu, choose My Computer (or just Computer for Vista users)
4. Now find your USB Flash drive listed here (will usually be under the Removable Media drive section there), and double-click on it to view its contents
5. For Camelot 3.x, right-click on the CAMDB.FDB file you should see listed there (for Camelot 2.x, right-click on the Data.mdb file you'll see listed there), and choose Copy from the windows shortcut menu that will appear
6. Now again go to your Windows Start menu, and choose My Computer (or Computer for Vista users)
7. Double-click on the hard drive where you have Camelot installed (usually the local disk C: drive)
8. Double-click on the Program Files folder (for windows 64-bit users, the Program Files (x86) folder)
9. Double-click on the Camelot folder (for Camelot 3.x users, the Camelot3 folder)
10. Right-click on the Database folder here, and choose Paste, and if it asks about overwriting an existing file, you would answer Yes.
For Camelot 2.x Only:
Since the program automatically creates backups for you on your hard drive by default, those backups are usually the ones you can restore from if you have not had a hard drive crash or had to replace the hard drive.
To restore from an automatic hard drive backup, follow these steps:
1. For network situations, be sure everyone has the Camelot software closed.
2. From your Windows Start menu, choose Programs > Camelot > Camelot DB Utility.
3. Click option 2 to restore from backup
4. Choose which database you are restoring to (usually Main Database)
5. The restore tab will list the backups that are in the default backup folder, and will list them so that the most recent one is listed first.
If you get an error message saying "cannot find file" when restoring from a hard drive backup, then chances are you do not have the more recent version of the Camelot DB Utility program installed. Click here and choose Save to Disk, and save the CamelotDBConnectionUtil.exe program to your C:/Program Files/Camelot folder.
To restore from a CD-R backup:
1. Put in the CD-R containing your backup copy
2. From your windows desktop, right-click on My Computer and choose Explore (or in Windows XP, from the Start menu, choose My Computer)
3. On the left, find your CD drive listed that contains your backup CD-R, and double-click on it
4. On the CD-R, find the Data (or Data.mdb) file listed there, right-click on it, and choose Copy
5. Now on the left again, find your local disk hard drive where you have Camelot installed (usually the C: drive), and double-click on it
6. Under that, double-click on Program Files, then Camelot
7. Now right-click on the Database folder there under Camelot and choose Paste
8. Then double-click on the Database folder, and right-click on the Data (or Data.mdb) file it contains, choose Properties, uncheck the Read-only box if it is checked, and click OK.
