Email SMTP Setup

In order to send emails from within Camelot, you must be able to use an SMTP connection.  Most ISPs (Internet Service Providers) use this method for sending emails, but some do not.  If you do not know the name of your outgoing SMTP mail host, then you will need to contact your ISP and ask them what it would be for you.

For example, if your ISP is BellSouth, then the outgoing SMTP server name is "mail.bellsouth.net".  If your ISP is Earthlink, then it is probably "mail.earthlink.net".

Some internet service providers who do have an SMTP server you can use, may have limitations on how many bulk emails you can send, so if you plan to send out a lot of emails from within Camelot, you may want to find a different outgoing SMTP mail server solution other than the one that is provided with your internet service provider.  Click here to do a Google search for different SMTP service providers that are out there.

One that we've found that works just fine is http://www.jangosmtp.com and at the time of this writing (November 2009), they allow up to 200 emails per month at no charge.  Go to their website (http://www.jangosmtp.com) and sign up for a free account, and then use the email authentication method to add your from email address to your jango account, and then the SMTP settings within Camelot will be "relay.jangosmtp.net" with whatever username and password they assign you.

To tell Camelot what your outgoing SMTP mail host name and connection settings are so that you can send emails directly from Camelot, go to the Misc/Setup > Company/Misc Info pull-down menu option, and then to the Email tab, and you will see the box for entering your outgoing SMTP mail host name there, as well as the username, password, and port options.

You must also be connected to the internet already for email sending from within Camelot to work, and you should not have any sort of Firewall enabled when you try to send emails.
