Adding Company Logo or Name to a Form Layout
NOTE: You must have at least the Professional Edition of the software to use the Form Layout Designer.
Most of the form layouts that come with the program have a place for your company logo at the upper left corner of the form. You can set the file used for this logo on the Company Setup screen, Logo/Message tab. It must be a JPG, BMP, or WMF file. We recommend a JPG file and we also recommend that you make the JPG be as small of a graphic file as you can. You may need to adjust the size of your company logo graphic in some graphics application (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Windows Paint, etc.) so that it appears as you expect on the form layout, or you may need to change the size of the box for the logo field in the Form Layout Designer.
If you do not have a company logo graphic, you will need to either use a form layout that doesn't use a logo but instead uses a text box with your company name in it (Style2-WorkOrder is one example). If you like everything about a particular form, but it is one that has the logo graphic, but you do not have a logo graphic file for your company that you can use, then you may need to modify the form layout to include your company name in a text box instead of the graphic. Follow these steps to do that:
1. Open an order on the form layout you want to use (hit Ctrl+N on your keyboard to open a new order, and from the Options panel at the bottom, go to the Forms tab and select the form you want)
2. Press F5 key at the top of your keyboard. This will close the order and take you into the Form Layout Designer for the order form you want to use.
3. At the top of the form layout, you will see a box that either has the sample logo we included ("My Company" with blue ribbon graphic), or an empty box. Double-click on this graphic box and confirm that on the Field Properties screen at the bottom, this is the "ORDEREXTRAS.CompanyLogoGraphic" field. Click OK on the Field Properties screen.
4. Now that we know we have selected that logo graphic field, simply press the [Delete] key on your keyboard to remove that box from the form layout.
5. Now we need to add the text box that contains your company name. To do this, from the Field pull-down menu at the top, choose Show Form Fields Selector.
6. In the Object Selector window that will then be there, find the General folder and double-click on it.
7. In the General folder, find the field named My Company Name, and click and drag it to the location at the top of the form where the graphic object used to be.
8. You will then see a box there that says [My Company Name]. You can close the Object Selector window now.
9. You will probably want to double-click on the [My Company Name] box you have added now, and on the Border and Background tab of the Field Properties screen, turn off all of the borders, and also on the Text tab, you may want to change the font used to make it larger or whatever. Click OK on the Field Properties screen when you are done making those changes.
10. Now you may also want to resize the [My Company Name] box so you can be sure your entire company name will fit there. Do this by clicking and dragging on the little white box in the middle of the right side of the box, or the one at the bottom right corner of the box.
11. Once you think you have the box on the form like you want it, hit the X at the upper right corner of the form layout designer to close it, and say Yes you want to save your changes.
12. Now press Ctrl+N on your keyboard again to view the order form with the changes you have made.
