How to Reinstall Camelot 3.x

The most common reason for needing to reinstall Camelot3 is when someone inadvertantly removes the Firebird database program, which is needed to run Camelot3.

This Firebird database program is installed when Camelot3 is installed (along with every single-user installation, and for network installs, it is only needed for the Server installation, not the client/workstations).

Here are the steps to uninstall and reinstall Camelot3 and Firebird.  These steps will be for Windows Vista, but will be similar for any windows version.

1. Make sure all users are closed out of the Camelot3 program.  If you are on a network, then restart your network server computer, and follow these steps there.

2. If you have data you've entered into your Camelot3 database that you need to keep, then first make a copy of your database file as follows:
a. go to windows Start and choose Computer
b. double-click on your local disk (C:) drive
c. double-click on the Program Files folder (for 64-bit windows users, double-click on the Program Files (x86) folder).
d. double-click on the Camelot3 folder
e. doube-click on the Database folder
f. right-click on the CAMDB.FDB file you'll see listed here and choose Copy
g. go to windows Start again, and choose Computer
h. right-click on your local disk (C:) drive and choose Paste, which will then put a copy of your Camelot3 database file into that location, so then the uninstall won't remove that

3. Once you've made a copy of your Camelot3 database if there was data you needed to keep, then go to windows Start and choose Control Panel

4. find Programs and Features in the Control Panel screen and double-click on it

5. find the Camelot3 program in the list there and uninstall/remove it

6. find the Firebird program in the list there and uninstall/remove it

7. Now you can download and run the Camelot3 installation from the links you received via email. You should have the necessary links to do this within emails you received after purchasing.  If not, please contact us through the Contact link at the top of this knowledgebase with all of your company information and what you are needing.

8. Once you've downloaded and reinstalled the program, then if you had made a copy of your database file in step 2 above, then follow these steps to copy that back to the right place:
a. from your windows Start menu, choose Computer
b. double-click on your local disk (C:) drive
c. find the CAMDB.FDB file listed on the right there, right-click on it and choose Copy
d. again go to your windows Start menu and choose Computer
e. double-click on your local disk (C:) drive
f. double-click on the Program Files folder (for 64-bit windows users, double-click on the Program Files (x86) folder).
g. double-click on the Camelot3 folder
h. right-click on the Database folder there and choose Paste, and then yes you want to Copy and Replace the file there.
