Error 13 - Unable to open Camelot 3.x due to database corruption

Very rarely, it is possible for your Camelot 3.x database to become corrupt due to a hardware malfunction of some sort (power loss, bad hard drive, etc).

Usually the error message you will receive when this happens is "Error 13: ...".

To recover from this type of error, you will need to restore from a backup.

You should have a recent uncompressed copy of your main Camelot 3.x database file (usually CAMDB.FDB) that you've copied to a USB flash drive, or that may have been backed up for you automatically by your online backup service, then simply copy/restore that file back to your current Camelot3\Database folder on your server, overwriting the corrupt CAMDB.FDB database file.  Refer to this topic for more information on restoring from a backup.

If the only backup you have to go from is one of the auto backups that Camelot made for you on your hard drive, then since those are compressed backups, and you are currently unable to open the software at all to get to the tools > backup/restore > restore option, then to restore from one of those compressed backups, you will need to do the following:

1. copy the backup (or even the entire folder that contains all the auto backups) to another location on your hard drive (or to a USB drive)

2. make sure you have the correct installation program files for reinstalling Camelot 3.x to your latest version (which would be the C3INSTALL full installation program, plus the most recent C3UPDATE you installed if any).

3. Uninstall your existing Camelot3 program using the windows add/remove programs, as well as the Firebird 2.x program

4. Reinstall using the installation programs you confirmed that you had in step 2

5. then open the newly installed Camelot3, go to Tools > Backup/Restore > Restore and choose to restore from your backup of choice you had copied in step 1.
