Updating Internet Mapping Options

Camelot 3.x and up come with the ability to get maps and driving directions from common internet mapping choices, like Google, Yahoo, and Mapquest.

Since these services are separate from Camelot, sometimes they update or change the methodology by which the maps are requested.  Because of this, Camelot provides a way to edit the web commands used to request the map information.

If you find your map requests are not working properly, you may need to edit their web commands.  Within Camelot, go to Tools > Edit Internet Mapping Options.  There you will see the different mapping choices listed on the left.

Currently (as of November 3, 2011), the following web commands are what should be there:

Google Map:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=<a1>%2C+<c1>%2C+<s1>+<z1>

Google Driving Directions:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&saddr=<a2>%2C+<c2>%2C+<s2>+<z2>&daddr=<a1>%2C+<c1>%2C+<s1>+<z1>

Mapquest Map:
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=US&formtype=address&address=<a1>&city=<c1>&state=<s1>&zipcode=<z1>

Mapquest Driving Directions:
http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&1a=<a2>&1c=<c2>&1s=<s2>&1z=<z2>&2a=<a1>&2c=<c1>&2s=<s1>&2z=<z1>

Yahoo Map:
http://maps.yahoo.com/#q=<a1>+<c1>+<s1>+<z1>

Yahoo Driving Directions:
http://maps.yahoo.com/#q1=<a1>+<c1>+<s1>+<z1>&q2=<a2>+<c2>+<s2>+<z2>

So you can simply copy and paste the above web commands to the web command box for the appropriate mapping service.

You'll notice by looking at the web paths above, it is simply using placeholders for the address <a1>, city <c1>, state <s1>, and zip <z1> and then for the directions, it is just <a2>, <c2>, <s2>, and <z2>.  A "+" represents a space and "%2C" represents a comma.  So, knowing this information, should the command change in the future, you can update it on your own, or even if there is some other internet mapping service you would like to utilize, you can add that as an option for yourself.

We will try to keep this web kb topic updated when we find that the services have changed their format.
