PROBLEM / ERROR: “Unrecognized Database Format”
This problem can sometimes be corrected simply by running the Camelot Database Utility program (Start > Programs > Camelot > Camelot DB Utility) and choosing to Compact/Repair database files. If this doesn’t work, then you must restore from a backup (windows Start > Programs > Camelot > Camelot DB Utility > Restore from backup > Main Database > choose most recent).
This error occurs when the database has become corrupted. Corruption in the database can be caused by only a few different things. The primary reason is a bad network card or driver. There are known problems with a particular chipset made by RealTek which many different brands of network cards use. You may be able go to RealTek’s website to download newer versions of the drivers for these bad chipsets, but there could be other types of chipsets that have the same problem, so the best recommendation we can make if you recurringly get this error is to get new network cards. Currently, we recommend the LinkSys 100 Mbps switch and network cards.
You also want to be sure that the only network protocol being used on your network is TCP/IP. Sometimes running other protocols along with TCP/IP can cause network communication problems with some network cards, so try removing all protocols except TCP/IP.
The other way that databases can become corrupt is if the computer loses power while you are working in the database.
