Calculating Commissions Troubleshooting - Applying Commissions

If you are having trouble getting your commissions to figure right when you view the results in the Technician Commissions Report, then you may want to follow these steps to be sure that you have your commissions setup and applied to the orders like you want:

1. From the Misc/Setup pull-down menu, choose Commission Levels and be sure you have the percentages setup like you intend.  See the topics about Commission Level Setup for more information.

2. Next, open one of the orders that should be showing a commission amount for a technician that is not by choosing Quotes/Orders from the main menu Navigator, finding the order you need to look at, and double-clicking on it.

3. Confirm that the order in question is marked with a status of Done, and if not do that.  If it is, then right-click on the date or time on the order and choose Activity Details, and go to the Employee tab of this screen.  In order for commissions to be applied to a technician, the technician must be applied to the order and for that occurrence, the commission level must be set.  So you should see the technicians who worked on this job listed on the right, and if you don't, then you need to double-click them in the list on the left to move them over to the list on the right.

4. Click on each of the employees now in the list on the right and be sure the commission level is set appropriately.  As you click on them and set the commission level, you should see the commissions earned for this order update there just to the right of the commission level box.

5. While you are on this activity details screen, also go to the Date/Time tab and be sure the Actual Start and Actual Finish date and time of the order is set appropriately, and click OK.  Then click OK to close and save the order.

6. Repeat steps 2 thru 5 for all the orders in question.  The Technician Commissions report will simply be summarizing this data, so if it is right on an individual order basis, then it will be right on the report.
