Troubleshooting: QuickBooks says "Error on line ..." while doing the import

You probably have your preferences in QuickBooks set that you do charge sales tax. Therefore, your QuickBooks options in Camelot need to be set that way as well.

From the Misc/Setup pull-down menu in Camelot, choose Company/Misc Info, and go to the QuickBooks tab. There, under Tax 1, be sure that each column is filled in, and that the check box labeled “Do you charge Sales Tax?” is checked, and redo your export.

Other things that can cause this error are invalid line items on invoices, or invoices with totals less than or equal to zero.  QuickBooks cannot deal with those types of invoices.  If you run a service business, then you probably want to start your company setup like the Service Business sample company that comes with QuickBooks, so if you continue to get these types of line errors, try resetting up your company in QuickBooks based on the service business sample.

Also, in more recent versions of QuickBooks, it does not like your sales tax account to be named "Sales Tax Payable".  If you change your sales tax account to just be "Sales Tax" on the Company Setup screen's QuickBooks tab in Camelot, then that will usually solve that.

Another common cause of this error is when you have set your QuickBooks account names in Camelot to be account numbers instead of the actual account name description.  The QB import does not like account numbers, so be sure you have them all set to use the account name descriptions.
