Referral tracking by client is accomplished by setting the Referred By information for a client on their client/contact information screen.
On the Referrals tab of that screen, you can mark who referred the client by clicking the Set Referred By button and then choosing the referring client from the client list search screen.
Once you have set the referred by, click that same button (which will then be a drop-down menu with different choices) to mark to send the referring client a mailout, like a thank you referral letter. You have to first have setup this referral thank you letter as one of your correspondence definitions.
PLEASE NOTE: The "referred" client must have an order that is Booked or Done, and at least 1 line item on that order must have a Service Category assigned to it (open the order, right-click on the first service line item on the order, choose Service Details, and make sure there is a Service Category assigned to that line).

If you intend to send this referring client some reward (either a coupon for other services, or a cash bonus), then it is good to indicate the amount of that reward in the Note field for the mailout that you add for them.
This mailout will appear along with any others you have marked to be sent on the Calls and Mailouts screen on the appropriate date.
